B.S. in Chemistry, Bates College

Dean brings more than 30 years of experience in education and independent school administration to Acera. He transitioned into leadership roles after spending 15 years as a chemistry teacher. As an administrator, he championed the use of technology in the classroom, becoming a nationally recognized consultant in the use of one-to-one devices in K-12 schools. In 2003, he was named an Apple Distinguished Educator.
Dean has also worked as an adjunct graduate-level professor at the University of Hartford in the Education Technology department. Most recently, he was the Chief Operating Officer at the Brooks School, where he managed a student body of 385 students, and a 250-acre campus with 75 buildings.
At Acera, Dean assists in several areas of administration with particular focus on educational technology, information technology, facilities management and Creativity Mornings. Dean’s experience, perspective and expertise will help us strengthen Acera’s operations as our organization continues to grow.
Dean holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Bates College, and an M.Ed. in Education Technology from the University of Hartford. He is a dad and husband, a –so he says!– terrible golfer, a voracious reader, a lover of cheesy 80s music, a guitarist in a weekend cover band, and most importantly, a life-long learner.
