Afterschool Programs

Our afterschool enrichment classes are designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

Guided by a dedicated team of educators with diverse backgrounds, students participate in interactive activities that foster STEM skills, artistic expression, and collaborative problem-solving. Whether learning about robotics or discovering the art of storytelling, each class encourages students to pursue their interests and broaden their perspectives.

Afterschool Class Information

Classes range from $47–$50 per session, depending on materials and instructor expertise.
Trimester Cost: On average, a class is $550 per trimester (based on $50 x 11 classes). All courses are already prorated in CampBrain to reflect days off.
Schedule: Weekly, 3-hour classes from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Bus transportation is available from Winchester Public Elementary & Middle Schools. Please list Acera as your After School Program bus stop on the transportation application. Drop-offs can start as early as 2:15pm from the bus only. They will then join our Enrichment staff in our common space to enjoy board games, building blocks/legos, and art materials until 3pm.

Ages 5-7: Creating with Technology: Art Meets Engineering

In this playful, hands-on class, young creators will explore the exciting intersection of art and engineering!Through imaginative projects that blend creativity with basic tech tools, students will design and build their own interactive artworks, kinetic sculptures, light-up crafts, and simple machines. Ages 8 -10: Mathsters of Art

In this hands-on, minds-on class, students will explore the hidden beauty of math through art! Young “mathsters” will dive into exciting, creative projects that bring geometry and spatial reasoning to life. TEACHER: CAMILA

Ages 8-10: Creative Computing & Robotics

This club offers a unique opportunity for students to develop their computational thinking skills while exploring a range of digital tools. The course will feature a variety of tools, including Scratch, CoSpaces, and TinkerCAD. While Chromebooks will be provided, students are welcome to bring their own laptops from home. TEACHER: DANNY

Ages 11-14: Dungeons & Dragons Role Play

Create your own characters and weave a story together, from epic quests for treasure to thrilling battles with dangerous foes. TEACHER: CHUCK

Ages 8-10: Culinary Explorers (Tacos, Pierogi, Muffins, Soups & more!)

In this imaginative and hands-on class, young artists will learn how to turn fabric, felt, and other soft materials into adorable animals and cozy companions. Ages 8-10: Stop Motion Animation

In this imaginative camp, participants will be able to craft and share a story of their own invention using stop-motion animation. TEACHER: DYLAN

Ages 8-10: Code and Create: Microbits & Scratch Coding

In this fun and interactive class, students will explore the exciting world of coding through two powerful platforms: Scratch and Micro:bit. TEACHER: FLOR

Ages 8-12: Soccer Clinic @ Teamworks

Acera will walk kids from school to the Winchester Community Park Grass Field, 5 min away. The Teamworks Soccer Staff will teach basic soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting through various drills and games.

Ages 10-14: Destination Imagination: Creative Challenges

Unleash your imagination in this fun hands-on course based on the Destination Imagination program, designed for curious minds who love to create and problem-solve. Students will team up to tackle a variety of open-ended challenges that blend science, technology, engineering, arts, and storytelling. TEACHER: MOLLY

Questcraft: Design. Roleplay. Lead.

In this action-packed class, students will dive into a world of imaginative storytelling, costume creation, prop design, and live-action gameplay. Students will explore themes of teamwork, ethics, problem-solving, and leadership — all while having a blast in immersive, student-led storylines. Ages 5-7: Extraordinary Paper Creations

We will transform a variety of papers to create unique 2D and 3D art, sculptures and functional objects in the wonderful realm of paper craft. TEACHER: KATHY

Ages 5-7: LEGO Architects

In this creative and hands-on class, young architects will explore the basics of design, structure, and engineering using colorful LEGO bricks. Through guided challenges and open-ended projects, students will build everything from simple houses and bridges to imaginative towers and cityscapes. TEACHER: DYLAN

Ages 5-7: LEGO Spike Prime Robotics

The LEGO SPIKE Prime system opens students to robotics and coding basics. They’ll control motors and sensors to navigate mazes, travel over rough terrain & more. TEACHER: FLOR

Ages 8-10: Edible Adventures (Baking & Cooking)

Welcome to baking, where your child can unleash their creativity in the kitchen, offering a hands-on and interactive experience that will leave them with a newfound love for baking. TEACHER: KEVIN

Ages 8-10: Intro to Woodworking

Learn woodworking basics and create a toy airplane, pencil box, tool tote, and more! TEACHER: ADAM

Ages 8-10: Digital Modeling, Simulation & Fabrication

In this exciting class, students will experiment with digital tools to design and construct 3D objects like toys, household products, and art. TEACHER: DANNY

Ages 10+: Study Hall & Screen-free Hangout

Introducing Study Hall & Screen-Free Hangout, supervised by Acera’s Upper School Teacher, Ms. Alexis. Upper School students now have access to a peaceful environment where they can work on homework, high school applications, or engage in another quiet activity like reading. Ms. Alexis, an experienced social science and math teacher, is present to offer writing support. This is a perfect space for students who need extra help with their homework to work with a knowledgeable teacher in a stress-free environment. In addition, students can enjoy supervised screen-free downtime with their peers after school. TEACHER: ALEXIS

Ages 10-14: Destination Imagination: Creative Challenges

Ages 11-14: Band

Students will explore a variety of styles, improve technique, and develop a deeper appreciation for music. Students must have basic competence in playing an instrument and reading music, but ALL LEVELS ARE WELCOME! TEACHER: CHUCK

Science Investigators

Put on your thinking caps and grab your magnifying glasses—it’s time to become a Science Investigator! In this fun, hands-on class taught by Ms. Sydney, kids will explore the world around them through exciting experiments, simple engineering challenges, and creative projects. Using the Scientific Method and Engineering Design Process, young investigators will ask questions, make discoveries, and solve mysteries just like real scientists. Each week brings a new adventure in science, filled with curiosity, creativity, and lots of “Aha!” moments! TEACHER: SYDNEY

Ages 11-14: Code Masters: Programming Fundamentals

In this hands-on programming class, students will learn the fundamentals of computer programming through engaging projects and challenges. Using languages like Python and block-based coding tools, participants will explore key concepts such as variables, loops, conditionals, and functions. TEACHER: SARAH

Ages 5-7: Art Sparks

In this hands-on class, young artists will explore the exciting world of electricity and circuits through creative 2D and 3D projects. Students will learn about different types of circuits — including simple and parallel — and discover how conductivity brings their art to life. TEACHER: CAMILA

Ages 8-10: Beatmaking

In this energetic and fun class, students will explore the world of rhythm and music production using kid-friendly digital tools. They’ll learn the basics of beatmaking by experimenting with different sounds, drum patterns, and melodies to create their own unique tracks. TEACHER: DYLAN

Ages 8-10: Think, Tinker, Build!

Using everyday materials and simple tools, kids will design, build, and test structures, machines, and devices—learning key concepts like force, motion, balance, and energy along the way.

Ages 9-14: Sewing Arts

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced sewist, we’ll help you select or create a project, cut out the pieces, and guide you through the process. TEACHER: KATHY

Ages 10-14: Intermediate & Advanced Woodworking Studio

Our Intermediate & Advanced Woodworking Open Studio allows students to work independently and take their skills to the next level. Prior experience in a woodshop is required. TEACHER: JOSH

Ages 10-14: Model United Nations: Policy, Power, & Perspective

Explore the big challenges of our time and open up your mind as an emerging world citizen. Engage in deep discussions about current events. Get exposure to primary sources and formative ideas in the political science, governmental, historical and philosophical landscape. TEACHER: EMILY & RENEE

Ages 11-14: LEGO Spike Prime Robotics: Solving Real-world Problems

Kids are curious and ask questions about things around them in the real world.. In this class, they’ll learn how to control motors and sensors to create their own customized robots that can solve real-world problems. Projects include Greeting/Joy Robot, Morning Helper, Future Furniture & more.

Age 5-7: Forts, Fantasy, and Friends

In this playful and creative class, young explorers will build cozy forts, craft magical stories, and embark on fantastical adventures with new friends. Ages 9-14: FLL Challenge Competition Team – First Lego League using SPIKE Prime

Join our Friday FLL team and dive into the world of competitive robotics using the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime system! Students will explore real-world STEM challenges as they build and program robots to complete missions on the official FLL game board. Using filtered aquarium waste to fertilize vegetables and fruits, we’ll build a small-scale aquaponics farm that connects science with

Students will focus on creating puppets for stop motion animation. The class by learning about how to properly create aluminum armatures for our puppets. Transportation and Drop Off

On half days, or days when public schools are closed, Acera does not provide childcare before 3:15 p.m. Early drop-off is not permitted.

Afterschool Bus Transportation (Winchester Public Schools Only)

Bus transportation is available from Winchester Public Elementary & Middle Schools. Please list Acera as your After School Program bus stop on the transportation application.

Afterschool Refund Policy

Acera will provide a refund for program cancellations made two weeks prior to the start date. Alternatively, you may transfer enrollment to any other program at no charge.

After two weeks, only transfers are available.

No refund or reduction in fees is possible for a child who arrives late, leaves early, or attends part of a program due to illness (exceptions made for hospital stays).

Refunds will not be provided for students removed from the program due to behavioral issues.

Holiday/No-School Days

When Acera School is closed for holidays or other reasons, there is no afterschool programming

Parent Presence Policy

To help maintain a safe, welcoming, and focused environment for all students:

Parents and caregivers are welcome inside the building up to 10 minutes before drop-off or pick-up.

Early pick-up is always permitted — just let a staff member know.

During pick-up we ask all grownups to wait in the lobby and when your kiddos are ready they will come to you.

During program hours, we ask that families not remain inside the building, so students can fully engage and thrive in their learning experience.

Removal From Acera Enrichment Programs

Decisions about participation in our enrichment programs are made at the discretion of the instructor and the Enrichment Program Manager. If a student is not able to participate in a safe and productive way, or if the teacher feels that the student is not engaging at a level appropriate for the program, the instructor may ask that s/he switch to a different session, or not return to the program. We have a zero-tolerance policy for physical aggression or verbal and emotional harassment towards other participants.

Refunds will not be provided for students removed from the program due to behavioral issues.
