M.Ed, Lesley University
BA, Merrimack College
She holds an M.Ed. in Language and Literacy from Lesley University, which grounds her work in content-embedded literacy practices, and a CAGS in Educational Leadership from Merrimack College, where she is currently pursuing her Ed.D. in the same field. Her doctoral research focuses on the experiences of gifted girls and how educators can better support these learners holistically.
Prior to joining Acera, Emily taught at an expeditionary learning school and a progressive charter school, both in Denver. These experiences shaped her hands-on, student-centered approach to teaching and her passion for creating authentic learning experiences for her students. She has presented nationally at the NAGC Annual Convention, sharing her classroom practice through teacher and gifted coordinator roundtables, and leading larger sessions on integrating SEL into academic programming for gifted learners and on hallmarks of Acera's program, such as Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
Outside of Acera, Emily enjoys time with her family, loses herself in a good book, tends to her garden, and enjoys experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
