Dr. Heather J. Pinedo-Burns brings extensive experience in early childhood education, gifted education, and curriculum development to her role as Head of School at Acera. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University, and has dedicated her career to creating intellectually engaging, student-centered learning environments where advanced learners can thrive.
Prior to joining Acera, Dr. Pinedo-Burns served as Director of Lower School at The Speyer School, a leading independent school for gifted students. She has also taught at the university level and led workshops and professional development on gifted education and curriculum design.
A passionate educator and thoughtful leader, Dr. Pinedo-Burns is committed to fostering curiosity, creativity, and belonging while supporting the unique academic and social-emotional needs of gifted learners.
